This is definitely one of my new favorite trails to run close to Denver. I love the variety you get from the easy scrambling over boulder fields in the beginning and beautifully rolling single track. This is a great hike or a technical trail run! I was under the impression it would be mostly shaded but there are some exposed areas that do get pretty hot especially during the summer. Be aware that there are some steep drop offs in sections and there are a few spots where the trail slides down. But overall I didn't feel unsafe out there on my own and made it back in one piece! The trail in total with connection to Windy Saddle is about 10 miles each way so either prepare to head back early or bring lots of water and snacks! I went on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded once you get past the Windy Saddle section but I can imagine it's more popular on the weekends. I met a few people and a pup and as I got off the trail the parking lot was a little crazy. Overall, I wouldn't say it's super busy but be prepared for weekend crowds.

I grew up in this area with Roxborough State Park in my backyard so I may be biased but this is a great trail! It's not too difficult if you go into the hike knowing you're climbing up to a peak. There's a decent amount of shade and stays fairly cool even in the summer mornings. The views from the top are incredible and on a clear day you can see Denver perfectly. There is an entrance fee at the gate but it's well worth it!

I spent many, many hours on this trail in college to escape the city and connect with nature for a quick hike. There are tons of different trails that connect to Green Mountain that you can take to create your own adventure. All that being said, in the past year or so it seems to be mainly mountain bikers up here. There are still times where I haven't run into too many but I tried to run an early Saturday morning and was constantly having to step off trail for bikers and I eventually turned around a few miles in.

Mount Falcon is definitely a "choose your own adventure" route. There are a lot of trails to take but all are incredible! You go in and out of the forest as well as climb to a few peaks. It's a pretty easy trail but some sections are steeper and narrower than others.

I grew up near Waterton and I've spent almost every weekend here. The trail is wide and smooth enough for it to be easily accessible for anyone! Even though it's so close to Denver, I love the mountains and wildlife. It does get pretty busy on weekends so come early!
