Hike Andorra, Canillo - Estany Primer de Jucla

The hike begins on foot walking the scenic roads leading into the beautiful forest where you wind your way through to the track, crossing small streams of water to the foot of the mountain. The climb soon becomes steep yet secure as you venture up the mountain passing waterfalls, walking over creeks and creating a unique path over the rocks to the lake.

The hike can take 1.5-2 hours each way, depending on speed and comfort of the climb; be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to decent before the sun sets. Once reaching the lake you are greeted with a breathtaking picture of a crystal clear lake in the mountainside surrounded with cliffs. There is a refugee point here.

The descent can be tricky and steep at times but is very manageable and enjoyable.

This is one of my favourite hikes and I recommend it to anyone near or travelling through Andorra.
