7 Photos from a Hiking Gem Near Atlanta, Georgia

My first bit of exploring as a new resident to north Georgia.

By: Andrew Todd + Save to a List

I've lived in the Atlanta metro area for almost a year now, and while I'm a little embarrassed to have just now begun to hike, camp, & explore north Georgia ... better late than never.

Raven Cliff Falls was a hike that I had heard a lot about since moving here, so my wife and I decided to add this hike on to a weekend of spring camping. The trail isn't too long, is generally level and not difficult, and runs along the beautiful Dodd Creek. There are a handful of both larger & smaller waterfalls to stop and enjoy all along the trail, usually with ample room for sitting down and taking it all in. We hiked this trail starting at about 9am on a Sunday, and we generally had the place to ourselves (except for 1 or 2 other people), though as we were leaving at about 10:30am the trail traffic seemed to be picking up (I had heard that this is a very popular hiking spot).

There are also some really great-looking primitive campsites available along the first part of the trail, which I will absolutely be coming back and taking advantage of.
