The Big River Crossing in the longest public pedestrian across the Mississippi as well as the the country’s longest active rail/bicycle/pedestrian bridge. The bridge provides spectacular views of the Memphis skyline and the Mississippi River.
This is one of the best ways to experience the Mighty Mississippi and view the Memphis skyline.
It takes about 10 minutes to bike across and maybe 20 minutes to walk across. On the Arkansas side there are picnic tables.
You can make this a quick trip across the river or you can ride the whole trail to Marianna, AR.
The trail continues south following the river on the Arkansas side and ends in Marianna, AR. The plans are to extend the trail 1607 miles all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Currently the trail turns into gravel about halfway between Memphis and Mariana, which is about 70 miles total.
If you are coming from Tennessee there is access from Channel 3 Drive/Virginia Ave W. Street parking is available on Channel 3 Drive and lot parking available in Martyrs Park lot.
If you are coming from Arkansas there is access from Bridgeport/Dacus Lake Rd, I-55 Exit 1. There is lot parking available on Dacus Lake Rd.
