Flamingo Beach

Flamingo Beach on Renaissance Island is a bucket list, relaxing adventure on the southern Caribbean island of Aruba. Here you'll find flamingos mingling amongst you on the warm, golden beaches and turquoise sea waters. The island consists of two sides: Iguana Beach where kids are permitted and Flamingo Island, where you will find the pink feathered inhabitants.

There are three options to reach the island...

#1: Book a stay at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort.

#2: Purchase a Day Pass from the resort. These however can only be booked a few days in advance and are limited in numbers, depending on the hotel capacity at the time.

#3: Reserve a time slot at the Island Cove Spa which is the option I chose for this adventure.

With your voucher you will want to head towards Lucy's Bar & Grill. It is located just across from the main resort and the pier is just behind the restaurant. The taxis begin at 7am and run approximately every 15 minutes until 6:45 which is the last taxi from the island. The boat ride is about 5 minutes long and once you arrive on the island, to the right is Flamingo Beach and to the left is Iguana Beach.

The best time to enjoy the company of the local flamingos is to get to the island in the morning. It is coolest part of the day and they'll be looking for their breakfast. You are able to get great photos with the flamingos, feeding the flamingos, and a relatively empty beach. By midday, it'll get too warm and the locals will be spending most of their time arguing amongst themselves in the shade.

Depending on the package or spa package you choose, you will get a drink voucher for a free beverage. While in Aruba, you'll be wanting to enjoy a tropical Aruba Ariba. You may even receive a food voucher for the delicious Papagayo Bar & Grill. The restaurant is located on the Iguana Beach side of the island, along with the restrooms.

Once your time slot for your spa treatment comes, you'll head out towards the over the sea gazebo. The length of massage all depends on the package you reserve. For whatever length you choose, you may forget your troubles out over the water as the waves crash beneath and you're able to smell the sweet, salty Caribbean Sea air. After your massage, you may continue to enjoy the island or move on to something else on the main Aruban island.
