Explore the Otways in an area filled with waterfalls and stunning ocean views. Just along the Great Ocean Road, this overnight hike has amazing scenery and lots of wildlife.

The Otways National Park sits right on the Great Ocean Road, a stunning, lush park with lots of amazing tracks to explore. This track takes you through dense trees and walks along several stunning waterfalls.

Day One (4.8km)

From Sheoak car park, follow the track up the hill towards Sheoak Falls. You will reach a junction that indicates Castle Rock to the left (this is the way you will come down tomorrow). Heading right, you will be able to see Sheoak falls to your right.

Not long after Sheoak Falls, you will see the lookout for Swallow Cave. Just after this point in the track, you will cross the creek. There are several signs warning not to cross if the creek is too high, which I would listen too!

Follow the track until you begin to see signs for Sheoak Picnic Area. At this point, you will reach Garvey Track and several signs towards other waterfalls in the area. If you've hit Sheoak Picnic Area however, you may have made a wrong turn. Follow the signs that take you up the hill to the right across from the intersection in the road and towards Won Wondah Falls. This will cut through the woods and take you to Sharps Track. Once you reach Sharps Track, head left down the track towards the campsite which is on the side of the road.

Please note that Sharps camping area does not have toilets and no running water. There are six campsites that are first come first serve, no booking are required. There is still water, but I would recommend bringing as much of your own water as possible.

Day Two (5km plus 1.2km out-and-back)

On day two, head back the way you came, heading towards Sheoak Picnic Area. Follow the signs to the Picnic Area today, walking through and looking for the track to Castle Rock. The track is at the south end of the campground and leads you straight up a hill.

Follow the track from here until you reach a junction indicating Castle Rock to the right. This is a 1.2km out and back, so you can leave your bags at this junction. The walk to the lookout has beautiful views of the hills around the Great Ocean Road and the lookout itself offers stunning views of the ocean.

Once you finish at the lookout, continue along the track until you meet the junction near Sheoak Falls then continue the way you started from.
