Amazing wildlife. Rustic camping. World-class surfing. Deserted coastline. Historic lighthouse. Hiking trails.

Just a three-hour, 280km drive north of Sydney is the sleepy town of Seal Rocks. Meandering round the tight bends to the end of the headland, you’ll find yourself a 10-minute walk from the picturesque lighthouse, which offers views up and down the deserted coastline.

There is a small holiday park in town that has modern amenities, but for those who prefer a quieter pace and a more rustic camping adventure, Treachery campground is the place for you. Spotting wildlife is common, with goannas, dingos and other animals making a regular appearance in the campground.

Treachery headland and beach lay just over the sand dunes and offer world-class surfing and fishing. The pristine aquatic environment and numerous hiking trails allow you to enjoy unspoilt natural surroundings and spot the occasional whale or dolphin, if you’re lucky enough.

With no electricity and simple amenities, Treachery campground is the perfect place to unplug, unwind and get back to basics.

After a long day of hiking and enjoying the ocean, relax in the sand dunes and soak in the sunset before heading back to camp to spend the night with friends around the fire.
