This short but challenging hike offers 360 degree views of Mount Barney National Park and the surrounding hinterland.

The trail begins at the car park at the end of Cotswold Road, easily found on Google Maps. This is an unsealed road but is suitable for most vehicles. You will see a Pathogen Control Station (shoe scrubber), this is where the actual trail starts.

Follow the trail through open grazing land for a few hundred meters until reaching the base of the ridge. From here the trail ascends quite steeply and is only marked occasionally by an orange arrow or pink/purple ribbon. Having said that, the trail is quite obvious and you should have no trouble navigating to the top of the ridge.

Towards the top of the ridge the track will veer to the right, descending into a gully. You will see the letter 'P' on a rock face to your right. Do not head that way. Take the track to your left. The trail makes it's way back up between the two heads of the mountain.  This section is very steep and requires some scrambling, please take caution through here.

Once you have traversed the steep section you will be greeted with a small clearing in the saddle between the two peaks. This is a great place to camp if you wish to tackle the main peak for sunrise. Please remember to leave no trace.

From the clearing you should be able to make out a track to your right. From here you are only a couple of hundred meters away from the summit! Follow the orange arrows and cairns to navigate your way to the main summit.  Enjoy the panoramic views from the top!

Cell reception is available on the summit.
