Five minutes outside of suburban South Bay Area, this hike is nestled in the hills of Cupertino/Saratoga. Beautiful views, rolling hills and a great quick hike to get away from the city for a little while.

The Seven Springs loop is only one great option of several in the preserve. Starting from the Prospect Rd parking lot the loop is 2.8 miles of rolling hills in and out of the shade. Most of the trail is at least 2 person width so easy to walk with a friend or furry companion. There have been large bee hives in previous years, but I haven't seen any new ones since 2015. The trail climbs up to the power lines and back through the backside of the hill where you can see some of the mansions nestled in the hills. The hike ends with a beautiful trek through some dense trees along the creek - this is always my favorite part, which is why I recommend parking at the Prospect lot rather than Stevens Creek.

This is a great beginner hike. It gets busy on the weekends so parking in the lot is limited - but their newly installed netting keeps those golf balls off our cars. This trail is open to mountain bikers and hikers so keep alert for bikers coming in both directions. For a longer trek, choose one of the many other trails that feed off of this loop – there is an amazing vista view at the top of Hunter's Point for an added half mile and hill climb. Especially in the winter, you can see all the way to the bay on clear days.
