Description

Added by Sara Sheehy

Located in the small vacation town of Trinidad, this scenic hike around Trinidad Head starts and ends at the beach.

Park in the large parking lot at Trinidad Beach. The trailhead is at the south end of the parking lot. The loop trail can be hiked in either direction.

The trail is half dirt singletrack, half paved switchbacks, and climbs steadily to the top of Trinidad Head. The view of the ocean and California coast are spectacular along the entire hike. Take care to stay on the trail as poison oak is common.

Keep your ears open for the sound of sea lions on the rocks below.

After the hike take a dip in the Pacific Ocean, or head to Bergeron Winery's Tasting Room.

Hike Trinidad Head Reviews

We were staying in Eureka and our airbnb host told us about this gem! It has breathtaking views! Unfortunately we were not there during whale season like some other reviewers were! Trinidad is a tiny town, but so worth a stop!

I walked the trail to stretch my legs after a long drive. Enjoyed it so much I ran it the next morning. I have family in Trinidad and was told December can be a great month to visit. It was 70 degrees and sunny for my two day stay.

We loved this little hike - Trinidad is a great little town. Unfortunately the fog rolled in shortly after we crested the top so the views weren't as great as they could have been, but we still enjoyed it! For kids, there is Redwoods EdVenture Quest so don't forget your brochure so the kids can earn a patch! http://www.redwood-edventures.org/

Absolutely beautiful! The walk is only a 1 mile loop but it has a quick incline. At each spur, we were able to walk out to a point over looking the ocean where we saw a pod of whales. I recommend doing this if you are staying in the area and need to escape for a little while.

A great spot to explore, especially during huckleberry season! Be sure to stop by the Trinidad Eatery for some amazing food, and the Humboldt State Marine Laboratory to visit their displays and touch tanks.
