Description

Added by Ariane Lessard

This is a relatively smooth hike 1 hour away from the border of Vermont that will bring you to a scenic view over the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Located in the lovely Eastern Townships in the Province of Quebec, Mt Orford is the perfect stop for a weekend getaway.
The loop of the Mt Chauve hiking trail, will take you in a short journey reaching 600 metres in altitude. An amazing view of Lake Stukely and Mount Orford awaits you.
Consider taking the Crêtes Trail for an even better scenic view over the mountains.

In the fall, the forest presents a show featuring the flamboyant colours of the sugar maples. The park is notably home to white-tailed deer and Great Blue Heron, which you can observe in their natural habitat. There is also a large variety of amphibian and reptile species. Beside two beaches, vacationers have a wide range of fun-filled activities to choose from. Come fall, colourful sugar maples treat hikers to a blazing show. Come winter, the park is a destination of choice for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing fans.

I recommand parking at the Camping of Lac-Stukely located at 200, chemin du Camping, Orford. Since the sector is now under reparation, you can also park at the "Etang aux Cerises" and take the shuttle up to the beggining of the trail. We decided to do it by walk, which added a 5,15 miles (one way). On the other hand, it is quite an easy hike when starting at Lake Stukely (2h00 hike).
