If you love adventure and camping this is the hike for you! Enjoy spectacular views and a diverse trail that is constantly changing. My favorites are the bridges you cross and landscapes on the way, full of wildlife, and be prepared to run into some :)

Mount Robson Provincial Park is vast and surrounded by the Canadian Rockies with an area of 2,249 km².

If you want to experience the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies you've gotta check out Mount Robson. From the parking lot to Berg Lake is 21 km, with 790m of elevation gain. You will first pass through a beautiful old-growth cedar forest. The trail twist and turns alongside a gorgeous river bringing you first to Kinney Lake, which is about a 4.2km hike in. Kinney Lake is stunning in its raw green color and great to take a dip in. You will cross the Whitehorn suspension bridge as well as many other rad bridges on the way. There are lots of beautiful waterfalls to check out, but Emperor Falls is by far the most impressive! It's a little detour off the main trailhead, but so worth it as you'll see Mt. Robson looming above the falls, but be prepared to get wet. A short time after, you'll pass a wide open rocky valley that looks something like the land before time.

Nearby, you'll see Berg Glacier, then finally arrive at Berg lake, which is this magnificent blue glacier water. It's very cold, but if you're brave enough, it's great for a quick dip. And there above the lake, you'll see Mount Robson :)

This park is very different from a lot of the other hikes in the Rockies not only because of its divergent landmarks, but also because it's very moist and full of the flora and fauna and covered in moss.

Also, if you plan on staying overnight, dogs are not advised :(

Backpack to Berg Lake Reviews

We did this awesome hike in one day. It was very exhausting but totally worth the effort! The hike starts and ends easy with a steep but moderate increase in the middle, so it's possible to do it in one day! We needed 10h from the parking lot to Berg Lake and back (40km). You don't have a lot of time for breaks but we would definitely do it again!!

Love this hike. My husband and I have done it twice just the two of us. Once again to Kinney Lake with some day-hiking with my step-kids, and again on their annual marathon (highly recommended if you love a good long mountain trail run). Can't wait to do it again this summer. This is a beautiful hike on a very well-maintained trail. It has everything: suspension bridges, waterfalls, marmots, glaciers. There are not many hikes I'd opt to do again start to finish, and this is definitely one of them. Oh, and if you have an extra day, check out Toboggan Falls and the cave. I can't say enough; go see for yourself!

My brother and I spent 2 nights camped at the Robson Pass campground (the last along the berg lake trail). The scenery on the hike is was absolutely stunning. We also hiked up to snowbird pass on the back side of Mount Robson which afforded us amazing views of the Robson Glacier. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone willing and capable to put forth the effort. It was a hell of a trek (~40 miles in 3 days) but it was well worth it. The weather didn't really cooperate with us the last 2 days and we hiked the 14 miles out in about 4 hours but I would like to go back (and perhaps attempt Mount Robson's summit).
