This is a perfect weekend getaway for a group of friends!

The cabin at Elfin Lakes is a beautiful well maintained shelter in the heart of the Garibaldi Provincial Park. It is nuzzled between two lakes (one for drinking water, and the other a swimming hole), and the Gargoyle Peaks.

The cabin itself is fully stocked with 8 gas burners, tables, a fireplace, and large pots for boiling water. It fits 33 people, and can get rowdy on weekends. We ended up digging out a full bar outside, equipped with table and couches. It is the perfect place for a getaway with a large group of friends. Epic times playing board games and getting creative.

The hike is not too strenuous, or too steep. It is pretty much a gradual climb the whole way. It offers views of the Howe Sound and Mt. Garibaldi.

To get there you will be driving up a dirt road, just East of Squamish. No need for 4 wheel drive to get to the trailhead, as it is a well maintained road. Punch in "Diamondhead Trail Parking Lot" into google maps it will take you to the trailhead.

A couple of warnings...

If you happen to think you will not need snowshoes in May, think again. We were lucky to have had a friend go the week before, and warn us about the large amount of snow. In early May you may need snowshoes starting at the 1 mile mark on the trail.

If you are over 5' 10" you might have trouble sleeping on the single person bunks. All of the bunks are quite short and will be uncomfortable. If you happen to be at the cabin when it is not fully booked, you can easily sleep diagonally on the double bunks below. Otherwise I recommend getting a tent pad.

Enjoy the hike, and as always pack out your trash.
