Great place to call home for the night on your West Coast road trip. Huge old growth forest. Suspension bridge, trails and two beautiful rivers. Affordable, non-crowded camping.

Where the beautiful Callaghan and Cheakamus Rivers converge, there is a great campsite aptly named after these two turquoise rivers. This is a quiet area, shaded by huge stands of West Coast forest, and easily accessible from HWY 99, about 20 minutes south of Whistler Village.

Hiking and mountain biking trails, plus a unique suspension bridge are all within a few minutes walk from the camping area.

There are lots of forested campsites and some beautiful riverside sites as well - drive around the three main areas to get your bearings. The sites are huge, with plenty of room for a camper van or multiple tents.

Rarely full, this hidden gem is a fantastic place to set up a base camp to explore the surrounding Whistler area. Brandywine Falls is just 3km to the south, with both highway and trail access, while Garibaldi Park is a short distance further. This is as close as you can get to backcountry camping within a developed campsite.

Cal-Cheak has large signage visible from HWY 99. Heading south from Whistler the turn-off is just before the main road to the Callaghan Valley, about 20 minutes past Whistler Village. You'll need to do a U-turn here, as there's no turning left on the highway. From Squamish, the turn off is about 25 minutes to the north, just past Nairn Falls.

Camp at Cal-Cheak Reviews

No frills but close to Whistler and outdoor adventures! I would NOT bank on "often a few sites are free even on long weekend" in the summer, though.

This campsite is a great place to stay for your Whistler/Sea-to-sky adventure. The place has great shaded sites in an old growth forest and the river flowing nearby keeps the noise down for surrounding campsites. No site is a bad site and there are a few right down near the water which are always full on the weekends. Price is cheap and often a few sites are free even on long weekends late Friday.

Just came back from an amazing camping trip here! It was raining the whole time, but the scenery alone was worth it. Absolutely breathtaking. The camping was also free because it was off season.
