Rich tidal pools. Killer Whales and Grey Whales in March & April just off the beach. Marine life including octopus and starfish. Northern trailhead for the Juan de Fuca Trail.
This is a gorgeous beach with so much going on. It's a quick walk from the parking lot (about .8 miles), or you can do the entire Botanical Beach Loop which is 3.5km. Go at low tide for amazing tidal pools and exploring caves if the tide is at its lowest. You can beach hop and climb up to some amazing viewpoints, just be sure to be back before the tide comes back in! This beach is never crowded, and also serves at the starting point to the Juan de Fuca Trail (47km), so you can be as adventurous as you want to be. We saw an octopus and starfish in the pools so be on the lookout! Beautiful, peaceful spot to take in a sunrise or sunset as well.
