Two, easy 1km loop trails along an elaborate wooden boardwalk. Magical old growth rainforest sights and sounds. Wildlife sightings: birds and fish. Abundant flora and fauna: moss, ferns, and young trees.

For an amazing jungle experience in Clayoquot Sound, the fantastic Rainforest Trails is the place to go. Located in the Pacific Rim National Park, the forest is deep, wet and massive. The wonderful aroma of nature fills your lungs as an incredibly elaborate boardwalk leads you along massive nurse logs, huge cedars and an astounding array of young and ancient trees.

The trail has two routes, “Route A” and “Route B”, one on each side of the highway. The parking lot is located on the west (ocean) side of the highway. Both are equally beautiful and both have a boardwalk system that at times seems luxurious as it keeps you tidily above the deep, mossy, wet, and chaotic forest floor.

Each trail is a 1km loop and both can easily be done in under an hour. Some series of steps meander up and down so watch your step when you wander through as you will most likely be staring at the scenery in wonderment.

The Rainforest Trails are far more than a walk through a rainforest. There are frequent, interpretive boards depicting in wonderful detail the inner workings of the forest. “Route A” explores forest life cycles. “Route B” emphasizes forest structure and inhabitants such as the salmon which spawn in the cool protective shade of Sandhill Creek.

Do both trails and marvel at the wonderful, wet and wild Clayoquot Sound. You will come out of this forest in awe of how beautiful Pacific Rim National Park really is.
