A local secret: 4 tiers of waterfalls complete with a rope swing. A favorite summer hang-out spot if you can get to it.
This trail isn't much to look at but it's all about the destination here as you will stumble upon scenic waterfalls nestled in the quiet Nanoose Bay area.
Turn off the highway next onto Sea Blush Drive next to the Arlington Pub in Nanoose BC. Take your first right onto Sundew Place. Start your walk at the end of Sundew Place through the gate. Take the main road straight ahead for approximately 1km until you see a double track trail on your right (At the time we went there was a big pile of wood stacked like a sort of treehouse where the doubletrack trail starts). From here take the double track on your right and depending on the strength of the falls you can hear them right away, so finding the path to them shouldn't be too difficult.
The descent down to the top falls are assisted by a rope and can be steep for an inexperienced hiker. The rope is quite long and the trail can be quite slick when wet so be diligent.
Once at the bottom of the first set of ropes you can go left to a swimming hole and a small waterfall. There is a rope swing here that people use to cannon into the second pool and is a fun spot to hang out on a hot day. The second ropes go down to the other falls and they are a STEEP rope descent and are quite challenging but this it the best spot to get a look at the third falls.
Bring some friends and your camera because you could be here for a while.
Coordinates for a good lookout at the base of the falls: 49.248699,-124.203181.
