Deep in the heart of the Canadian wilderness, with turquoise lakes, snow-capped peaks, and beauty everywhere you look. After you actually get into Assiniboine, this little hike has the biggest reward for your effort of any hike I have ever done.

Starting right at Mt. Assiniboine Lodge, there is very clear signage for this hike. The arrows will lead you over a wooden walkway right before you begin a gentle assent through the woods,gaining elevation the further you go, and then arrive at The Nublet which is before the peak. The Nublet has outstanding views, and in my opinion makes for even better images. Continue to follow the signs and path for The Nub, eventually leading to an exposed but easy rocky area. There are cairns here, and the path is still easy to follow - just aim for the grassy area at the top. Once on The Nub, you will have the most incredible views of the entire Assiniboine area, and from here there are endless hiking opportunities. There are so many great hikes in this area, but this one is the most iconic IMHO. Fun little hike and an absolute must if you make the effort to get to Assiniboine!

Getting up to the top of the Nub is relatively easy, with no scrambling and no climbing involved. Because it is the most accessible peak from the lodge, it can be a bit busy.....but there is room for everyone :)
