Golden Ears is well known to those in the Lower Mainland. After staring at the jagged 'ears' from all angle, I finally got to see them up close and in-person. The West Canyon Trail is a gentle 5.5 kilometers on a well groomed path, lined with deciduous trees making it a perfect place to watch the leaves change.

Beyond this point, the path becomes a trail and you find yourself trading your well groomed path for flowing riverbeds, boulder fields, and rock and root scrambles. This park is the epitome of a rainforest, making the hike a beauty.

You'll find yourself at 9 kilometers, getting the first glimpse of what's to come. The 'ears' lie magestically to your left, as you climb the ridgeline to the summit. The view from the top is dreamy as you look through the clouds at Pincone Burke Provincial Park, Garibaldi Provincial Park, and parts of the Tantalus Range.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunny day, however, the weather can change in a minute, and it can snow at any time during the year, make sure you are prepared for all conditions. In addition to this, the trail does not have high traffic, therefore ensure you are conscious of wildlife safety.

Hiking Golden Ears Trail Reviews

Consider camping on Panorama Ridge. You'll carry more gear but the sunrises / sunsets you get from the ridge are second to none in the area.
