Set within the expansive Golden Ears Provincial Park, this short hike transports you to a mossy wooded wonderland.

An hour outside of downtown Vancouver lies the beautiful 150,000 acre Provincial Park of Golden Ears. The park has a myriad of hikes and adventures all with varying degrees of difficulty. The Spirea Nature Trail likely clocks in as one easiest amongst the dozens within the park. However, don’t let the level of difficulty throw you off. This short trail packs a punch.

Once you reach the park entrance, drive an additional 3.8 miles. The parking lot for the trail will be on your right. The lot has space for 20 or so cars with the trail itself starting mere feet from the parking lot.

With zero elevation change and an out and back 1.5 mile trail, Spirea is a simple hike. Yet despite this simplicity the trail still allows for plenty of intrigue with the mossy wooded wonderland which it cuts through. A green hue engulfs the ground and the towering trees at every twist and turn. At certain points, while you are only a mere dozen feet from the parking lot and street, the mossy woods seem to surround and transport you to a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere.

The trail is extremely family friendly and suitable for all skill levels. Even the seasoned hiker will find this to be an enjoyable trail.

Stroll along the Spirea Nature Trail Reviews

Not a hike, just a simple walk but lovely mossy floor and trees and great intro for small kids into what a beautiful forest there is at Golden Ears. You could easily take a stroller or wheel chair along the trail and is great for small dogs who wouldn’t be able to manage the rocks and tree roots of regular trails.
