South Eastern New-Brunswick has only a few mountains you can summit. Hayward Pinnacle is a 1300 feet hill about 1 hour away from Moncton, and has a beautiful viewing point at the top.

Crossing the Riverview bridge from Moncton, take a right onto Coverdale Rd and follow that road until you reach Rte 885, (or as we like to say: at the second church - about a 15 minute drive). Take a hard left and follow Rte 885 for about 25 minutes. Turn left on Prosser Brook Rd for about 5.3 km, then turn right onto Hayward Rd. You will see the trail entrance in about 800m. Park by the side and be careful not to block the road.

Hayward Pinacle's is a steady uphill hike on an old gravel road mostly used by four-wheelers and snow mobiles. You can follow the green trail markers up to the top of the hill. When it stops going up, turn right to climb the summit on a steep side trail. If you decide to continue straight downhill instead, you will reach the Dobson trail.

Hayward Pinnacle's summit is a marvelous spot to make a cup of tea as you take in the beauty of Albert County. We recommend this hike for admiring the magnificent Fall colors. Not so many people hike this trail, so you will most likely find yourself alone. Always think there might be hunters around in hunting season: be cautious and wear bright orange gear.
