Hixon Falls is a 100 foot cascading waterfall with a great swimming hole. Hixon Creek is named after a 19th century prospector (Joseph Foster Hixon) who found gold on the banks of the creek!

The 100 foot Hixon Falls cascades into a deep pool, and then flows down into two more deep pools.  The walk to Hixon Falls is short and easy, but once you are at the big rock there is a not so sturdy 2x4 piece of wood used as a make shift bridge to get closer to the falls. Be very careful crossing it as it's ultra slippery. 100% worth the scary shuffle to the other side. Once across you can get a better view of the falls and if you are brave enough you can climb up a rock ledge to see the deep pool. The rock ledge is barely a foot wide and not easy if you have ankle problems or a fear of heights. Use extra caution and hold onto the rocks when you can. In the months of June, July and August downstream of Hixon Falls is used as a swimming hole. So if you are planning on going during those months pack a bathing suit and a towel!

Directions:

To get to Hixon Falls from Prince George BC, head South on Highway 97, for 40 minutes, until you get to the small town of Hixon. You will cross a bridge and then there will be a road a few hundred metres to the left named Hixon Creek Road with a sign saying "Hixon Falls and Hixon Chutes". Continue on that road, which turns into gravel, staying left the whole time for about 4km (2.4mi). The second parking area to the left is the parking area for Hixon Falls, the first one is for the Hixon Chutes. As long as you stay to the left all the way down the road you can't go to far since the road ends at the Hixon Falls trail head.

Nice easy walk to the falls, often a few people there at a time. Definitely worth the stop if you’re driving through Hixon.

Beautiful spot but road to get in is terrible. We park at the dump and walk in.

We absolutely love Hixon Falls, the only downfall to this cute hidden gem is the dirt road in is really hit or miss. I wouldn’t recommend taking a small car in there as the road is usually not maintained. I would recommend asking the locals if they know the condition of the road before taking a car in there. Anything bigger than a car would be no problem. Once at the trail head the hike itself is very short, It is almost disappointing how short it is, but the falls do make up for it they are pretty great!

These falls are beautiful. The hike isn't too long and in the summer time it's a great swimming hole. Cliff jumping was definitely a highlight :)

From, the parking lot there is another road and it's a bit of a tough road so we just walked up but you can easily walk up to get to the top of the falls you'll see the river from the top. We then crossed some large rocks to find the trail that leads to the top of the falls. It's neat up there you don't have the best best view but it's pretty neat regardless. Careful in the rainy days it's slippery and steep.

This place is a beautiful spot to photograph or just hang out for a morning or afternoon and relax. Well worth the short drive off of the highway.
