Explore Point Prim peninsula on the South shore of Prince Edward Island and get to see the oldest (and one of the nicest) lighthouses on the Island.

Prince Edward Island is all about lighthouses, fields, and beaches. The Point Prim Lighthouse was built in 1845. It is the oldest lighthouse on the Island and is the only round lighthouse in Canada built on a brick foundation. To this day, the lighthouse is in great shape and is probably the the prettiest place to visit on the south shore. During the summer, visitors can visit the gift shop and even buy tickets to climb to the top of the lighthouse and see the small heritage museum.

Prim Point was one of the highlights of our Island tour. It is standing on the edge of a beautiful peninsula, the whole place was dog friendly (which is quite rare on the Island) and we got to walk on the slippery rocks to the beginning of the Northumberland Straight, where kids were trying to pick up crabs with their hands.

To get there, follow the Points East Costal Drive south of Charlottetown on the way to Wood Islands ferry and make a turn on Point Prim road.
