Description

Added by Mike Fennell

Webster's Falls is a stunning classical curtain waterfall that stands 72 feet tall and 98 feet wide. You can enjoy a beautiful panorama or get down close and be refreshed in it's cool mist.

The waterfall is located in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area, which is delightful enough by itself to explore and have a picnic or lounge around. The easiest way to access this area is to park at the lot at the end of Fallsview Rd, located on top of the Dundas escarpment area. There is a $10 fee to park, or you can park on a nearby road and walk a little further, which may be better on a busy weekend.

From the parking lot, you will find the a pathway to the southwest. There is a great view of the falls just a minute up this path. To get closer to the falls, follow the path to the right. After about a quarter mile, the path will bring you to a great overview of the falls at it's edge. For the more adventurous, find the stairs to the right of this overview, and follow them down to the bottom of the falls. Be very cautious of slippery rocks while down there, and be prepared to get a little wet from the strong mist.

Photograph Webster's Falls Reviews

Mike, I have explored the Falls both by the top and bottom (including the stairs you mention in your adventure) and it's an awesome sight, especially if you'd like to explore Hamilton's more natural areas. There is also a way to hike to the very bottom of the Falls, but it is somewhat dangerous and isn't a designated hiking area! I did it last Winter and it was stunning!
