Sunshine Village in the heart of Banff National Park offers something for everyone on the slopes. There are ample wide open groomers for those looking to cruise or learn, then there’s Delirium Dive and Wild West where you have to bring avalanche gear and a partner to enter the zone.

It’s higher than other nearby resorts, consistently giving it one of the longest seasons anywhere in North America and quite often a few more centimeters from any given storm.

But my favorite part of Sunshine is its layout and sheer amount of space. It takes a gondola ride to get up to the main skiing area from the parking lot, but from there you have tons of options for zones you want to ski in. You can find nearly any slope aspect to ride, which means you can pick and choose your location for the best snow on any given day – or during any time of day. This also means there’s tons of terrain to explore, so you won’t be lapping the same run all day.

Plus, given its location on the crest of the Canadian Rockies, you not only have big views in every direction – including the legendary Mount Assiniboine – you can even ski through two provinces in a single run!
