Amazing Views. Great for Photos. Easy Access.

Make sure check the sunrise time and to try to arrive 30 minutes to an hour before. If you're driving north or south along the Icefields Parkway, you'll see a sign for Bow Lake, it's about 38km north of Lake Louise. There are two pull-offs for the lake, if you're heading north take the second road, if you're heading south take the first. The short gravel road takes you down to the Simpson's Num-Ti-Jah Lodge where there is public parking for those looking to walk along the shore of the lake.

The best time of the day to see this lake is definitely in the morning when the water is calm! The reflection of Crowfoot Mountain is amazing.

Watch the Sunrise at Bow Lake, Banff NP Reviews

This lake quickly becomes crowded and for good reason. The lake is eerily still in the morning hours making it a perfect mirror. We got eaten alive by mosquitoes but it was worth it. In July the shores were dotted with tons of wildflowers too and if you're lucky you'll see some wildlife.

We brought snow shoes and walked around the lake during Winter and it was phenomenal. The back drop of the snow covered Canadian Rockies was an unbelievable site

In August there can be purple wildflowers along the edge of lake that make a great foreground for photography.
