Boulder at the Stawamus Chief
Squamish, British Columbia
Description
Added by Lauren Foltz
World-class bouldering near campgrounds and right outside downtown Squamish.
There's so much climbing to be done here -- sport, trad, bouldering! If you're bouldering, it is always shady and cool so bring a light jacket. Most popular season to climb here is in the summer.
*If you're visiting from out of town...
- Need to rent a crash pad or two?
There are a few outdoor stores downtown that can provide some gear, but the only place I know of that handles crash pad rentals is at Climb On Equipment & Outwest Gear Exchange. They're equipped with new and used clothing and gear.
Metolius pads // $20 per day
Organic pads // $25 per day - Need to buy a bouldering guide? (highly recommended)
There's a few places to pick up a bouldering guide, but if you're at the Climb On store, purchase it there. If not, you can grab one at the Adventure Centre near the other climbing spot called Smoke Bluffs.
Bathrooms: Yes! None at the parking lot, unless they added one recently, but there is a portable on the Apron Trail.
Parking:
Park in the campground lot or in the main Chief pullout lot.

Approach:
You're literally a couple minutes walk away from boulders in the forest. We took the Apron Trail and cut off right into the trees from the main Chief parking lot area.
