Description

The closest crag to Winnipeg at just an hour east along the highway. The 15m cliff ranges from 5.2-5.9 routes all top rope. Bolts are already put in, so grab your rock bag and climb!

Just off of the main road at Falcon Lake (Highway #44) is the closest Crag to Winnipeg, Lily Pond. The cliff is 12-15m tall and ranges from some great beginner 5.2 all the way up to 5.9 cracks and slab. A well traveled path takes you up along the back of the crag to the top where you can set up some slings to anchor for top rope climbing and even set up a tent if you want! There is a small fire pit so go ahead and roast some marshmallows post climb.

The rock is decent, but it's close to Winnipeg and has a solid range of approachable routes for the general population of climbers. This is also a great place to introduce yourself to outdoor climbing and how to climb granite instead of indoor holds bolted to walls!

This place was my first introduction to outdoor climbing and it will always have a special place in my heart. If you're in the Whiteshell Provincial Park let me know! I will take any excuse to go and climb, canoe, or hike around.

Cheers,Garrett
