Ski Spanky's Ladder

Whistler, British Columbia

Description

Added by Chloe Donlan

Fresh powder for all off Blackcomb's exquisite Spanky's Ladder (133 acres, 1605 vertical).

Take Blackcomb's Glacier Express and head skiers left, veer a quick right and then bootpack up a stretch of snow to the entrance of Spanky's Ladder. Be careful on the walk in - there's a large blowhole to your left and the path can be narrow.

The skiing off Spanky's is arguably unmatched, but there are cliffs hidden amongst the pow, so know where you're going before dropping in.

From Spanky's entrance, you can head left into Garnet Bowl and stay left for Ruby Bowl. Diamond Bowl is straight ahead from the entrance, and Sapphire Chutes are to your right. The latter of which are a bit more intimidating to access.

The terrain from Spanky's is an inbounds, avalanche controlled region, but with steep, cliff prone sections it is recommended for very experienced skiers.

Review your epic lines over beer and hors d'oeuvres at Garibaldi Lift Co. Pizzeria Antico is one of my favorite dinner spots in town. Head over to the Irish Pub later on for live music and late-night dancing.
