Description

Added by Becky Simrose

Hike through pristine snow to the frozen waterfall.

Park at Rockbound Lake Trailhead, 0.2 km east of Castle Junction on Bow Valley Parkway (Highway 1A).

The trail wanders through forest until coming to a fork to the right, leading to SilvertonFalls. This is a worthwhile 1 km side trip to a beautiful small waterfall dropping into a turquoise blue pool. Return the way you came to the main trail and continue onwards.

The trail switchbacks through forest along the flank of Castle Mountain and opens up to stunning close up views of Castle Mountain's peak. At 7.7 km you will reach Tower Lake, with dominating cliffs and Castle's tower rising above.

From Tower Lake, very steep switchbacks ascend to Rockbound Lake in a high hanging valley at 8.4 km from the trail head. Take some time to enjoy the area before making the return trip along the way you came.
