Hike through aspen groves and open meadows, while following along seasonal streams. Access to backcountry camping, as well.

This intermediate hike in Golden Gate Canyon State Park is an attraction across seasons – in fall the aspens show beautiful colors, while in spring and and summer wildflowers bloom along the trail.

You can also reach three backcountry camping sites via access trails off of Horseshoe. Come early to take advantage of limited parking at the trailhead.

Hike the Horseshoe Trail Reviews

I did this hike during the fall and it was beautiful! The aspens were very colorful. The only down side is you have to pay to get into the park and the rangers aren't very nice.

This is a great trail to connect with others for a long run in the park.
