A beautiful hike to the top of Kruger Rock, this trail provides an incredible sweeping view of Estes Park and the nearby Rocky Mountains.

Cutting through the forested hills surrounding Estes Valley, the Kruger Rock Trail is a well-marked 4 mile loop to the top of Kruger Rock. The trail begins in Hermit Park Open Space, located just a few miles southeast of Estes Park and is a moderate hike with around 1000 feet of elevation gain. Climbing gradually up a hill, the trail dips and climbs several times before ending in several steep switchbacks and a short scramble at the end to reach the top of the rock. The view from the top is second to none, with a sweeping panorama of Mount Meeker, the Mummy Range, the Continental Divide and Longs Peak.

For an additional challenge, wake up early and hike up the trail in time to reach the top before dawn. Then sit back and enjoy the incredible sunrise over Estes Valley; just make sure to bring a good flashlight for the hike up!
