Added by Anna Curley
Explore well maintained trails in Staunton State Park, just an hour from Denver, culminating in a beautiful waterfall, Elk Falls.
Begin on Staunton Ranch Trail for 3.3 miles. Switch to Bugling Elk Trail for the next 1.1 miles, then to Lion's Back Trail for the last mile to the overlook. From here, you can create the loop by backtracking to the Chimney Rock Trail, which then connects with the Elk Falls Trail. To head back to your car, return to the Chimney Rock Trail and turn right, heading toward Lion's Back Trail. Once you reach Lion's Back, simply retrace your route back to the parking lot.

Elk Falls Loop Reviews
Tons of mountain bikers on the weekend, most likely due to being such a quick drive from the city. Relatively unchallenging hike. Would definitely recommend doing the lion's head loop that is right by the falls overlook.

Good hike, with great variance in terrain and awesome views, especially along Bugling Elk trail. I would advise to do it in groups as it runs through areas with multiple moose and mountain lions!
