Description

Estes Cone trail provides a great intermediate challenge in Rocky Mountain NP with stunning views of Longs Peak and Estes Park.

The trail begins on the left on a park service road before reaching a junction with the Storm Pass Trail just past .2 miles. Follow the trail as it enters the forest and continue past the private property signs and over a footbridge. Past the bridge the trail climbs more steadily for just under 2 miles before becoming more moderate again around 10,050 feet.

Just after 3 miles you'll reach another junction with a trail coming up from Longs Peak TH while the Storm Pass trail continues to Bear Lake Road. Look for the sign pointing towards Estes Cone and follow it up to the right. The last .7 miles climb 800 feet with some scrambling and the trail can be faint in areas. Look for cairns along the path and when in doubt, go up! Once at the summit there are numerous outcroppings to scramble up to for incredible views of the surrounding peaks and town below.
