Description

Added by The Outbound Collective

Squantz Pond Trail is a short 2.2 mile hike located near New Fairfield, Connecticut that features pond views, forest, streams, and several bridge crossings.

The hike is rated as moderate and is accessible all year round. While it’s accessible during all seasons, the sights of the leaves changing colors in the autumn makes it an exceptionally beautiful time to do this hike. You’ll definitely want to snap some photos along the way of the foliage reflecting off the water’s surface.

Note that there are some steeper portions of this trail as well as some trees that may be down. It is essential to wear appropriate footwear in anticipation of muddy areas and potential stream crossings. Some areas are not extremely well marked, so be sure to stay attentive, especially if it’s your first time visiting. There are usually, however, quite a few people on the trail, which can be useful for asking questions if needed.

Since this trail is part of a state park, there is a parking fee ($15 on weekdays and $22 on weekends). COVID regulations may have affected this. Dogs are only permitted during limited, off peak months.
