Stunning waterfall near Norwich Connecticut.
The Yantic Falls Historic District encompasses a historic mill and associated worker housing on Yantic Street in Norwich, Connecticut. The 10 acre area includes a complex of mill buildings arrayed along the Yantic River, and a group of three brick mill worker houses. Today, Yantic Falls is part dam and part natural. The main plunge is approximately 40 ft. in height and at full volume, quite impressive.
You can park right alongside the falls on the street. Quick 1 min walk inside the gate to the falls to overlook it from the edge. There is no fence to view the drop off from this angle. It is a great view but be careful. Starting outside the fence there is a sign with a legend of the falls. That is the start of a walkway to go over the falls to get to a higher viewpoint. There is a railroad bridge and a walking bridge above but they do not distract from the falls.
