Minneopa State Park is an awesome outdoor getaway close to Minneapolis. Well recommended! The falls are gorgeous and the Bison Drive is super cool!

Fun place to spend an afternoon just hanging out, or grab lunch from Sea Salt during the Spring and Summer!

Walnut Creek is a fun place to hike or ride! This trail is paved (wheelchair accessible) and a little hilly, so you may work up a sweat. Walnut Creek lake is very neat and you can bring your fishing pole to cast off after your hike. Just watch out for the geese. Overall, it is a fun, quiet and absolutely gorgeous park! This hike is strongly recommended!

The Bob Kerrey Bridge is a great way to check out the Omaha skyline! It's in a pretty quiet part of the city, on the banks of the Missouri River, and next to the Lewis and Clark Trail/NPS HQ in downtown. The bridge runs from Omaha to Council Bluffs, IA. It's a great chance to stretch your legs and bust out the camera phone!

Having hiked and biked at this park a couple times, I can say this place is fantastic! Prairie Queen Recreation Area boasts a 4 mile loop trail with gentle rolling hills, a well-stocked fishing lake, playground and clean bathrooms. The trail is is paved, so it is wheelchair accessible. Hiking, biking are also allowed, but I don't think there's a rule against rollerblading, skateboarding, etc. The lake is also pretty popular and a good size for a suburban park, so feel free to not only bring your kayak or canoe, but also your motorized boat. Just remember to respect other boaters on the water. All in all, the Prairie Queen Trail Loop is a great, family friendly hike, and the park is a very welcoming place!

Absolutely gorgeous waterfall! Very easygoing, paved path. I think there is a trail for more experienced hikers, but it was closed when I was there. The location on the Canadian border was really neat - just make sure you don't miss the turn into the parking lot!
