About this place

Added by Amber Locke

This outdoor art gallery along Doll's Head Loop is the perfect place to get into nature just a few miles from the center of downtown Atlanta. The art created from trash "littering" the trail is thought-provoking and, yes, sometimes slightly creepy.

Locating the entrance to Constitution Lakes Park is the hardest part of this hike.  There's no specific address to take you to the parking lot, but if you find South River Industrial Boulevard, you'll see the sign for Constitution Lakes Park on your right.  Parking is free and there are two trails to choose from that will lead you to the same place.

Once you head down the trail, you may start wondering if these doll's heads are hidden in the trees, but be not afraid.  The entrance to the art trail is about a five minute walk from the parking lot.  Stay on the main path (there are lots of small foot trails that sprout from it, but it's obvious which one is maintained).  After you come to a wooden boardwalk around the lake, head left and you'll start seeing signs pointing you towards the art.

There is art of all kinds crafted from mostly children's toys and old tires and glass.  While it sounds incredibly creepy at first, it's hard not to see the depth of the recycled art pieces along the trail.  I particularly enjoyed the crayons and pens left with note cards to add your own message to a box or the benches at one point.

This unique hike is easy and flat, as well as family-friendly and dog-friendly.
