The Unicoi Gap and Indian Grave Gap Loop in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, is a moderately challenging hiking trail. Spanning approximately 5.04 miles, the loop offers a variety of terrain, including forested areas, open fields, and rocky paths. The trail is known for its two significant landmarks: Unicoi Gap, a mountain pass with panoramic views, and Indian Grave Gap, a historical site with remnants of old settlements. The trail also features a small creek and several species of local flora and fauna. Hikers should be prepared for a few steep inclines and rocky sections, particularly near the Unicoi Gap. The trail is well-marked, but a map is recommended for first-time visitors. For those planning a trip, there are several nearby accommodations, including campsites and lodges. The trail is open year-round, but the best time to visit is in the fall when the leaves change color. Remember to pack water and snacks, wear sturdy shoes, and respect the trail by leaving no trace.

Unicoi Gap and Indian Grave Gap Loop Reviews

It was 6.5 miles according to GPS and took us 4.5 hours with a teen and a lunch break. Take the loop counterclockwise. The first few miles are rocky and steep, but the backside of the mountain make it SOOO worth it. Enjoy streams all through the hike. Well worth the day!!
