This is a hidden park known only to locals who fish, but is open to the public! Minutes away from Phinizy Swamp and beautiful spots to explore!
Hidden in the back woods behind Augusta's domestic airport, the New Savannah River Lock and Dam is a favorite fishing spot for locals. Drive through the entrance to the park and you'll find a large selection of pavilions, fishing areas, a boat ramp, and even fish cleaning stations! Put your pole into any one of the hundreds of rod holders and enjoy the roaring sound of the dam!
For those who are more adventurous, right as you enter the park, look to your left and you'll see an abandoned bridge, atop a smaller dam. Find the path in the woods just below you that takes you to the very bottom, and you'll discover a beautiful second fishing hole, along with another old abandoned bridge.
When you are done fishing, simply use any one of the three fish cleaning stations!
