Description

A short and exciting hike to two pillboxes with amazing views of the North Shore of O'ahu.

The trailhead for the Ehukai Pillbox Trail is pretty easy to spot, once you know what to look for. Park across the street from Sunset Beach Elementary school and then walk into the schools parking lot. You'll see a red steel gate used to block off a section of the parking lot. The trailhead is directly to the left of this, you'll see it between the trees and bamboo. Once you're on the trail there is a set of red & white ribbons that you will follow to the pillboxes.

It is only 20 minutes to the first pillbox up a couple of steep sections of trail (there is rope tethered to trees to support you in areas). The path can be very slippery when it has rained recently so be careful with your footing. Once you reach the first bunker continue to follow the trail for another 10 minutes and you will reach the second bunker.

You can bring a picnic lunch or plan to watch the sunset from the pillboxes.
