Experience the thrill of snowmobiling across one of the largest glaciers in Iceland.
Visiting Iceland during winter? Put this adventure on your list. It was easily one of the highlights of our trip, as I'm sure it will be for you as well. From Reykjavik, our group hired drivers to take us up to the basecamp of one of the few snowmobiling tour guide serves that runs tours during winter, Mountaineers of Iceland. The ride up, in a "Super Jeep" was almost as fun as the snowmobiling itself.
After a quick briefing on operating the snowmobile and other safety precautions, we geared-up in down snowsuits and thick gloves. If you have a large group, expect to split up into pairs and divide the driving time in two (usually you can switch at a pre-planned stop on Langjokull Glacier). We didn't have the greatest conditions (lots of wind and snow), but hey... thats Iceland. It was an amazing experience thats worth the money.
