Take a Boat Tour of the Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

Þjóðvegur, Iceland

Description

Added by Danny McGee

Cut through the electric blue waters of Jokulsarlon surrounded by the constantly changing, moving icebergs.

About a 4 and a half hour drive from Reykjavik, a bridge welcomes you to Jokulsarlon, the ice berg lagoon. There are numerous activities around the area such as photographing the icebergs that have washed ashore on the black sand beach nearby. However if you really want to fully experience the lagoon, a boat ride is the the best way to do it.

There are several companies that run tours and prices vary by the type of boat you are on. It is a truly once in a lifetime experience to get up close and personal with icebergs ranging in size from about the size of a watermelon to ones that are the size of several houses put together. In the high season, it is necessary to reserve a spot early due to high demand. Tickets can be purchased here.
