Spend a night in a rustic, canvas-walled yurt just inside of Harriman State Park surrounded by serene wilderness, trails down to Silver Lake and access to the entire park!

Harriman State Park offers two yurts that are tucked just inside of the park entrance: Cygnet and Wyethia. With the exception of ADA accessibility, they are both identical in size and amenities. Cygnet is the first Yurt on your right side as you pull down the drive, and Wyethia is a few hundred feet further. These are quite popular year round, so be sure to book your reservation as early as possible.

Inside your Yurt, you will find two bunk beds that sleep six people, a wood-burning stove, picnic table with benches, a cooking stove and lantern. There will be a box of cut firewood next to the stove, as well as matches and some fire starter. Outside the yurt, you can soak in sun on the deck, or walk 20 feet away to the covered shed where there is loads of unchopped wood. There are multiple axes to use, and even a sled to haul it all back in the snow! There is also a vault toilet in between the two yurts.  You can find drink water just outside of Cygnet near the road.

Be sure to bring your own bedding/pillows or sleeping bags as they are not provided. If you plan on using the stove or lantern a lot, bring some extra propane canisters (one is provided in each yurt). Also, there are bear lockers outside the yurt where you should store all food items.

There are trails that cut through the woods behind Cygnet that lead right down to the incredibly scenic Silver Lake. In the morning, there are fantastic photo opportunities as the midst rises off the surface.

Outside of the yurt, Harriman State Park offers a huge range of adventures such as fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking. This area is known for wildlife watching such as moose, trumpeter swan, elk and is a bird sanctuary. In the winter, it is a premiere Nordic Ski area with over 24 miles of groomed trails for skate and classic skiing, snowshoeing and fat bike MTB!

You can reserve one of the yurts on the Idaho State Parks site: Link here

Yurt Camping in Harriman State Park Reviews

I've done this adventure multiple times, staying at the yurts and at the Cattle Foreman's house. This is always a great spot to stay and while there is plenty to see at the park, you're also close to other things like Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Mesa Falls, Sheep Falls, St Anthony Sand Dunes and Earthquake lake. There's an abundance of wildlife at the park. If you're lucky, you'll see a moose in the lake. We had the adventure of being awoken in the middle of the night by a porcupine gnawing something under the yurt. If you're there in the winter, make sure you bring your snowshoes or XC skis.
