This backcountry resort is nestled north of McCall, Idaho and features a large, world-class geothermic pool. Burgdorf is an oasis for outdoor enthusiasts and can be enjoyed during all four seasons.
Burgdorf, Idaho's backcountry oasis, features several rentable cabins located about 30 miles north of McCall. Each season provides its own outdoor opportunity, and Burgdorf provides an epic hub in which to enjoy them.
To get there from Boise, drive through McCall and hang a right after the Shore Lodge. Follow Warren Wagon Road and signs for Burgdorf for about 30 miles. Part of Warren Wagon Road is closed during the winter season but the resort can be accessed by a 22-mile scenic snowmobile ride.
The hot springs are in a central location within the grounds and are roomy enough for the whole resort. The sandy bottom and perfect temperature make the pool nearly impossible to leave. If you like the HOT stuff, there are also two small pools that can make you feel like you're a lobster.
You won't find electricity in the cabins, so come prepared with headlamps and lanterns. The wood burning stoves provide ample heat, even on the coldest Idaho nights. The Burgdorf staff is as pleasant as the resort and welcomes guests of all ages. They even put up with our stag party of 20!
Don't miss out on a Bloody Mary at the Shore Lodge bar looking out over Payette Lake after the trip. Thank me later!
