About this place

Added by Josh Packer

The hike along Palisades Creek is beautiful all year long and is a great place for capturing amazing landscape photos.

The Palisades Creek Nature Trail is a fun little hike with many photographic opportunities. You can make the hike as short or long as you want, so once you're done taking photos, turn back around and head to your vehicle. The trail does eventually lead to Lower and Upper Palisades Lake, but this adventure only covers hiking along the Palisades Creek. The best places to take photos are within the first couple miles of the hike. The trail goes along the creek for most of the hike and crosses several bridges, including the one that starts the trail. The hike is in bear country, so make sure to have bear spray and hike with a couple of friends.

Seasons: The hike is beautiful during all seasons, but especially during fall when all the leaves change colors and during winter when the trees are covered with snow.

How to Photograph the Creek: It's hard to capture the beauty of the creek along the trail, so it's best to get in the creek to get that unique perspective. Using a long exposure of the creek can create interesting and beautiful leading lines, which improve your composition. Finding something interesting in the foreground like a rock or little waterfall will also greatly enhance your photos.

Snowshoeing perfection
Great place to snowshoe. Not a big elevation gain and epically beautiful.

Amazing Winter Hike
Snowshoeing here is like snowshoeing in a winter wonderland. I had the trail to myself and got incredibly lucky and saw a mountain goat ...

Great Trail And Views
This is a nice steady climb. Popular with scouts and horses. The trail is beautiful and the lakes make the effort well worth while.
