About this place

Added by Sara Sheehy

Redfish Lake, an alpine lake in central Idaho, is a popular adventure spot in the summer months. In the winter snow blocks vehicular access and Redfish is left to it's own peaceful devices. Ski or snowshoe to the lake for an afternoon of solitude and beauty.

Park in the turnout west of Redfish Lake Road on Highway 75. The turnout is plowed to fit 10 to 15 cars.

Walk over the bridge and turn right onto Redfish Lake Road. You will likely see tracks as it's a good access spot for backcountry skiers. The trail follows the road and is easy to navigate.

Pass by the beautiful timber bridge over Redfish Creek before seeing Little Redfish Lake on your right. Take the short detour to the shores of Little Redfish for a great view. Continue along the road until reaching a wooden sign for the Lodge. Turn right for a beeline to the Lodge (not open in winter). Alternately continue straight to reach the lake and follow the shore to the Lodge. The Lodge has a long dock over Redfish Lake where you can view Grand Mogul rising to the south. Retrace your steps back to the parking area.

Stanley, located seven miles from Redfish Lake Road, has a small grocery store and restaurants.
