Description
Added by Lucas Bremer
One of the top trails within Fern Clyffe State Park, Hawk's Cave is an impressive 150 foot sandstone shelter bluff. When beginning the trail from the parking lot, there is a fork of three separate trail heads. Take the path to the left and follow the loop up to a rock wall of shelters, honeycomb formations, and a shallow creek.
The "cave" is really a large shelter with an arched opening that towers overhead. Massive boulders are jumbled at the bottom, allowing novice rock climbers some practice.
In wet season, a waterfall flows directly off the face of the cave adding to the lush beauty of this trail. Many flora and fauna are also on this trail, including several endangered or threatened species.
