A short hike to Lago Limides, a picturesque mountain lake in the Dolomites

Lago Limides is a small alpine lake on the Falzarego Pass in the Italian Dolomites, not far from Cortina d'Ampezzo.

For this hike, we parked at the Falzarego Lagazuoi cable car station, and followed the trail on the opposite side of the road. The trail is a narrow dirt trail, but it's easy to follow. After a short uphill, it bends off a little to the left and you traverse across until you get to the lake. This short hike took us no more than about 20 minutes from the car park at the bottom.

The lake is only very small, and isn't filled with water all year-round, but when it is, it has some beautiful reflections of the surrounding mountains of the Tofana and Lagazuoi.

To extend the hike, you can make the hike a loop, hiking down to Rifugio Col Gallina, and back along the pass to where you are parked, or you can also continue up the trail further to the Conque Torri and Rifugio Nuvolau.
