White River Falls is a spectacular viewpoint in OR just a short drive from Hood River. The water flow was incredible on the day we visited and the clouds kept the desert landscape cool.

We hiked this trail in late winter and the falls were bursting! The trail itself is a moderate hike and takes some effort to get to the beautiful waterfall.

One of the most popular trails in First Landing State Park, known as Seashore to locals, the Bald Cypress trail offers a little bit of everything. A short walk through a freshwater swamp, this trail is simple and flat offering a quiet respite in nature. This trail is wonderful year round, but bugs can be bad in the summer.

The Elizabeth River trail runs alongside the Elizabeth River through the city of Norfolk. At times scenic, this trail is a nice path for walking, biking, or jogging through the city. There is plenty of visual interest and opportunities for rest and viewpoints. This is a great trail to enjoy at sunset.

The park surrounding the Jordan Bridge is a nice way to offer green space in an otherwise industrial area. The bridge itself is impressive and the views of sunset are nice.

Kempsville Lake is a nice nature walk in the middle of the suburb of Kempsville in Virginia Beach. The area was recently renovated and includes a gazebo, pond, and pretty bridge. It's a nice place to get outside near home.

Mount Adams offers an incredible opportunity to climb to the top of a volcano without technical gear. We camped at the Lunch Counter and got an early start on the summit bid, glissading down by mid morning. There was a water source a short walk from camp. Wildflowers were prolific and the views were endless!

This wooded trail follows a flat dirt path to the beautiful cove of Watmough Bay. Ending at a beach littered with fantastic driftwood, this is a great spot to escape into nature.

Cannon Beach is a beautiful, expansive beach offering opportunities to see unique wildlife and birds. We visited during Puffin nesting season and enjoyed watching the birds soar above Haystack Rock.

Silver Falls State Park is an incredible park! The Trail of Ten Falls Loop offers fantastic views of all of the parks incredible waterfalls. Get an early start, this place is popular!

This trail was incredible. Challenging enough to be a great workout but beautiful enough to keep you wanting to go further. We did this trail on a clear late winter day and it was spectacular. The only downside was it was very crowded! Be sure to start early to avoid the crowds.

This is a relatively simple and straightforward snowshoe to one of Mount Rainier's favorite viewpoints. While I still prefer the view with the mountain reflected in the lake the snowshoe itself is wonderful!

I am a cross country ski beginner and the trails at Mazama offer me the best place to gain experience to work on distance, stride, and endurance. Love that I can choose shorter trails or combine them to make for a longer stint.

The hike to Leigh Lake is simple, flat, and beautiful. The reflections at Leigh are spectacular on a flat water day. We passed lots of families with small children and limited mobility enjoying this beautiful walk in nature.

We started at the visitors center and followed the Woodland Trail to jumping rock. The trail was relatively flat and easy to follow wish some fun boulders along the way for practicing outdoor bouldering. The rock was a thrilling jump into chilly waters and oh so fun!

Tamanawas Falls is a moderate hike to a spectacular waterfall. The trail follows the water the whole time and any spot is picturesque.

Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful area on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. A common stop over for migratory birds, the soundside marshes offer year round wildlife viewing. Buggy in the hot months, so be sure to bring bug spray!

Burney Falls has to be the most visually interesting waterfall I've visited. It is truly a spectacular sight. The easy trail to the base of the falls allows wonderful access for photographing the full basin, but be mindful of the spray! You and your gear will get wet!

The Alice Lake-Toxaway Loop is an absolutely spectacular backpack. We did the trip in two days with one overnight. The climb was strenuous, but the views made it oh so worth the effort!

The Sawtooths have to be America's hidden gem. This range is positively breathtaking whether you are viewing it from the road or hiking deep into the backcountry.

Stanley Lake is a favorite spot among photographers so it was a must see on our trip. The lake was beautiful and calm in the mid day during our visit.

The Bay area does an incredible job of offering open space natural areas as an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Russian Ridge offers a beautiful way to find solace in nature.

I will never tire of a redwood hike. Portola Redwoods were absolutely beautiful and offered a cool hike in the midst of the hot summer. We spotted lots of wildflowers, too!
